ABOUT US
The Melville Fremantle Cycling Club is Western Australia’s oldest cycling club having been established since 1897. It has conducted both road and track racing continuously since that time with the only breaks being for the war years. The club was originally known as the Fremantle Amateur Cycling Club and kept that name until 1975 when the City of Melville was recognised with the addition of Melville to the clubs name. The club first started out by conducting the very first track racing in Western Australia on a track around the current Fremantle Football Ground and continued to do so on a regular basis until football took over the ground completely in the early 1960’s.
The club has historically produced some of the best road and track riders in the state and has a number of highly experienced people with a wealth of knowledge available to provide advice and assistance to up and coming riders.
The club conducts weekly training rides catering for riders of all levels to provide an opportunity for participants to improve their bike handling skills along with with fitness, endurance and strength.
